He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond in 1992 and his Law Degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1995. In law school, he served on the editorial board of the Journal of International Comparative Law. He is a former representative of the Younger Lawyer's Division to the Savannah State Bar Association. Denethris Barnes is a native Savannah, Georgia. Denethris obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Spanish from Armstrong Atlantic State University.
